History and presentation
The Botanical Garden of Bucharest is famous nationally due to the species of plants it hosts. His current name, namely the "Dimitrie Brândză" Botanical Garden, was assigned to him only since 1994.
The tourist objective covers an area of 17.5 hectares, along with several greenhouses that cover 4,000 square meters. More than 10,000 species of plants live and grow here harmoniously, depending on the characteristics each one needs.
The Botanical Garden is located in the Cotroceni district of Bucharest and belongs to the University of Bucharest. At first, it was located in another place, from which the gardener Dimitrie Brândză moved it to the one where it is currently located. At that time, the Garden was located near the Faculty of Medicine and was founded by Carol Davila.
The Botanical Garden was no exception to the difficult times, which affected it in the long run. Thus, both during the First World War and in the Second World War, it was hit by bombing and used for various purposes by German occupation troops. The effects were felt directly in the destruction of 500,000 plates of the herbarium. At present, it has been possible to obtain new ones, but the total reaches 500,000 plates compared to the 700,000 existing before the wars.
Botanical Garden Museum
Right at the entrance to the Botanical Garden, the museum is arranged. It is located in a Brancoveanu-style building, able to turn even the most demanding eyes. Here, visitors can admire the 5,000 species of plants on display, as well as another 1,000 exhibits that are part of the category of exotic species.

• Visiting uncovered spaces:
- between March 16 and October 15: every day from 08:00 to 20:00;
- Between 16 October and 15 March: every day from 09:00 to 17:00.
• Visiting the Botanical Garden Museum:
- from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 to 15:00;
- from Saturday to Sunday, from 09:00 to 13:00.
• Visiting greenhouses:
- Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10:00 to 15:00;
- Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 to 13:00.

- between March 16 and October 15: full price 10 lei, reduced price 5 lei;
- Between October 16 and March 15: full price 5 lei, reduced price 2 lei.
